Mixed Columbine Seed
At No Regrets Flower Farm & Animal Sanctuary, we focus on eco-friendly practices. Our seeds grow naturally and are hand-picked on our farm. We carefully prepare and package each variety.
Sowing Instructions:
Transplanting (Recommended)
Timing: Sow seeds 8-10 weeks before the last frost date.
Post-Frost: Transplant outdoors after the last frost.
Sowing Depth: Barely cover seeds, as light aids in germination.
Container Size: Once the first true leaves appear, transplant seedlings to larger containers or cell packs.
Direct Seeding
Soil Temperature: Sow directly into the seedbed when soil warms to 65°F (18°C).
Sowing Method: Plant in groups of 3-4 seeds.
Thinning: Thin to one plant per group when true leaves appear.
Winter Mulching
Location: In colder climates, apply winter mulch after the first frost to protect plants from heaving due to freeze and thaw cycles.
Light Preference
Ideal Conditions: Prefers part shade but will tolerate full sun in cooler summer climates, provided plants are regularly watered.
Plant Characteristics
Height: Varies based on species.
Spacing: Maintain a distance of 10-15 inches between plants.
Hardiness Zones
Suitable for Zones 3-9.
Harvesting
Timing: Harvest when half of the florets on a stem are open.
Soil Requirements
Prefers humus-rich, well-drained soil in light shade but can tolerate full sun with adequate moisture.
Uses
Ideal for cut flower arrangements and suitable for beds and borders.
